Training

Just wondered if anyone had got some exciting training planned? I am hoping to go to Snowdonia on Sept 5th for a 7 hour scrambling trip and at the end of September i am going to see just how much work i need to do by completing (hopefully) the Herriot Way which is 13 miles a day for 4 days. What is everyone else up to?

  1. At the moment, im mountain biking and running for general fitness. My dog is getting some extra long walks and I haven't been in a lift for 2 months. Once autumn arrives i'm going to get some proper hiking done and get in the gym after work. Fitness wise, i'm starting to feel pretty good.

  2. Well i climbed (if you can call it that) in the Malverns for three and a half hours yesterday with a full pack on and i can recommend getting into your pack as soon as you can, the difference in hauling a pack rather than just me was huge.

Herriot way is booked now but Snowdon has been put back until mid October.

  3. Me and Mark had a week away in the Yorkshire Dales last week its the perfect place to train. We did the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge, which is 24.5 miles in under 12 hours with a total ascent of 1586m. We made it in just under 12 hours, which was brilliant, but let me tell you it was the hardest thing i've ever done in my life. It has given us a good insight to how tough the Kili trek will be though, so i'm really pleased we did it. If you get a chance to go, i would really recommend it, but make sure you start early, around 6am.
A few more walks needed though to get us prepared inclduing the gym sessions every day. We'll be heading to snowdon, the breacon beacons and also the peak district to try and get in as much as possible. If we get enough time, we want to do Ben Nevis too, but not sure we'll be able to because of the weather.

How is everyone else finding it?

Blooming hard work trying to fit everything in isn't it! I'll be pleased when this is all over - in a good way! :0)

Dont know about everyone else but there isnt enough hours in the day to Live, work, fundraise, train and sleep. Im looking forward to the rest when we finally get there.
